The health niche is one of the healthiest niches a KDP creator can focus on when augmenting their catalog to include journals, diaries and other resources meant to help people deal with any number of illnesses and conditions.
Skin conditions are at the top of the list when it comes to troublesome areas to consider when tackling the health niche. Case in point: Psoriasis.
It is estimated that 125 million people around the world (including 8 million in the U.S.) have psoriasis, an autoimmune disease that can cause red, scaly, elevated patches on the skin anywhere or everywhere on the body.
According to Mayo Clinic, there are known psoriasis triggers as well, including:
- Infections
- Weather
- Injury to the skin
- Insect bite
- Sunburn
- Stress
- Smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke
- Heavy alcohol consumption
- Taking certain medications or sudden withdrawal of certain medications
As you will likely deduce, many of these “triggers” can be tracked, compiled, and referenced in notebooks and journals. Patients are often asked by their physicians to do exactly that. This is why KDPers should take this matter seriously, especially because Amazon desperately needs more trackers and resources for psoriasis patients (as well as patients dealing with dozens of other common skin conditions that impact the lives of hundreds of millions people worldwide).
